Welcome Back!

Hello, Sidney (name that movie)

Oh hey, didn’t see you there! How’s it going? Good? Great.

Remember when I had a blog a billion years ago? I started it because I love writing. At first, it started out very timid. I created fashion posts because I was finally at a job where I didn’t have someone telling me what I could and could not wear (also, 13 years of Catholic School uniforms). I would do random lists and birthday content. Then I started doing these really deep posts about my struggle with my body dysmorphia and my relationship with food (which WOW at this point I’m wondering who in the world doesn’t have these issues). I made these expectations about what I had to put on my blog. I thought I needed to say things that made you (my friends and family) relate and feel something. It really burned me out. I got rid of my blog. I couldn’t keep up with that type of expectations that I put on myself.

Every October, my best friend (HI JESSICA) does Inktober. It’s an Instagram challenge to get your creative juices going. Jessica is an amazing artist and I look forward to October every year to see what she makes out of the prompts she’s given. In the past years, I’ve looked up writing prompts. Most of the time it was fiction stuff, which intimidates me… Except did you know that I wrote a short story in college that I’ve always wanted to flesh out into an actual novel? Yeah. Every year I tell myself that I’m going to do it and when New Years Eve rolls around it’s like, “lol yeah okay next year”. This has been the story since 2010. Since fiction still kind of intimidates me, I looked up journal prompts as well. I made a list combined with journal prompts and fiction prompts to keep me on my toes. I started writing the fiction section and wow, I’m kinda good at this. The story flowed out of me. I noticed that some of my journal prompts were coming out more like stories I was telling friends instead of something I was writing in a journal that both Jessica and Nami have been told to burn when I die.

So here it is. This website will have my black & white film photography that I also abandoned after college. It will have journal style blog posts about hilarious things that happen in my life. It will have fiction short stories that I’m inspired to write. It will have lists of Buffy episodes because hi, have you even met me? In the end, it’s going to be a site where I write things I want to and it’d be super cool if you love the stuff I write here too.

Enjoy your stay and tell your dog I said hi.
